Lindow, Steven
Submitted by cmjones on March 5, 2007 - 2:38pm.Name of Person:
Steven Lindow
Picture:
Department:
ESPM, Professor
Research Interests:
Steven Lindow's group studies a number of different bacteria, known as epiphytes, that live on the surface of plants. Their research emphasizes both molecular genetic and ecological approaches to the study of the interactions of epiphytic bacteria with other microorganisms on plants and of the interactions of these organisms with the plants on which they live.

Department:
ESPM, Professor
Research Interests:
Plant-insect interactions or understanding and managing insect populations in agricultural settings. One recent emphasis of the plant-insect work has been to understand the consequences of changes in either system traits or plant characteristics on the interactions of plant, herbivores, and their natural enemies.
Wood, David
Submitted by cmjones on March 6, 2007 - 11:45am.Name of Person:
David Wood

Department:
ESPM, Professor Emeritus
Research Interests:
Biology of bark beetles (Scolytidae) and subterranean termites (Reticulitermes spp.), insect host selection behavior, insect pheromones, use of behavior-modifying chemicals in forest pest management, forest entomology, pathogen/tree/bark beetle interactions.
Resh, Vincent
Submitted by cmjones on March 6, 2007 - 10:55am.Name of Person:
Vincent Resh
Picture:

Department:
ESPM, Professor
Research Interests:
The research program in Vincent Resh's laboratory follows three lines: (1) studies of the evolutionary biology and ecology of aquatic insects, crustaceans, and molluscs in stream and river habitats; (2) the evaluation of habitat manipulations for use in environmental restoration or enhancement, and the use of them in examining underlying influences of ecological interactions; and (3) and the development of techniques for the biological assessment of water quality.
Purcell, Alexander
Submitted by cmjones on March 5, 2007 - 3:49pm.Name of Person:
Alexander Purcell
Picture:

Department:
ESPM, Professor
Research Interests:
Alexander Purcell's major emphasis is to understand the ecology of a bacterium (Xylella fastidiosa) that inhabits plants' water-conducting systems (xylem) to cause diseases of grapevines, almond, alfalfa and other trees and crop plants.
Powell, Jerry
Submitted by cmjones on March 5, 2007 - 3:42pm.Name of Person:
Jerry Powell
Department:
ESPM, Professor Emeritus
Research Interests:
The principal theme of Jerry Powell's research has been to discover and correlate biological features with traditional morphological evidence in the development of biosystematic relationships of microlepidoptera (small moths).
O'Hara, Kevin
Submitted by cmjones on March 5, 2007 - 3:25pm.Name of Person:
Kevin O'Hara
Picture:

Department:
ESPM, Professor
Research Interests:
Kevin O'Hara's research involves integrating stand dynamics into stand- and landscape-level decision-making. One area of his research involves using leaf area to represent the occupied growing space of trees. Other research has involved reconstruction of mixed-species stand development to compare growth rates of different species. Finally, a major portion of his research effort is focused on decision support tools to assist managers making silvicultural decisions.
O'Grady, Patrick
Submitted by cmjones on March 5, 2007 - 3:05pm.Name of Person:
Patrick O'Grady
Picture:

Department:
ESPM, Assistant Professor
Research Interests:
Patrick O'Grady is interested in the patterns and processes that generate and maintain biological diversity.

Department:
ESPM, Professor
Research Interests:
Katharine Milton is broadly interested in the dietary ecology of Primates, including human ancestors and modern humans.
