Brief Bio:

Chris Jones is staff researcher at the Berkeley Institute of the Environment at the University of California, Berkeley. He is lead developer of the CoolClimate Calculator, an online tool that allows households to estimate personalized carbon footprints from transportation, housing, food, goods and services and then compare their results to similar households. The next version of CoolClimate will include a carbon footprint map of the United States and a personalized climate action planning tool. Versions of this tool have been adopted by the State of California, non-governmental organizations and communities, allowing users to connect to local climate action resources. Mr. Jones holds an M.S. in Energy and Resources and an M.A. in Latin American Studies, both from UC Berkeley, and a B.A. from UC Santa Cruz. Prior to coming to UC Berkeley he was co-founder of a sustainable forestry enterprise in the Brazilian Amazon and worked for several years in the area of international development.
