Ricardo Bayon is the Managing Director of the "Ecosystem Marketplace," a web site and information/analysis service covering the emerging environmental markets for carbon, water, and biodiversity. For nearly a decade he has specialized on issues related to finance, banking, and the environment. He has done work for a number of organizations, including Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, Insight Investments, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank, IUCN, The Nature Conservancy, Domini Social Investment, among others.

Lance Kim, joint Nuclear Engineering and
Public Policy graduate student, will provide an introduction to the nuclear
fuel cycle, discuss recent trends in the nuclear industry, and discuss
security and nonproliferation issues. There will be plenty of time for Q&A
and discussion throughout the session.
Lance is graduate student in the Department of Nuclear Engineering and the
Goldman School of Public Policy. His research focuses on developing robust
design strategies for nuclear systems. His work experience includes stints

Ocean energy resources are attractive renewable supply alternatives for
North America because good wave and tidal energy resources can be found
in close proximity to population centers. The Electric Power Research
Institute (EPRI) has established three North American collaborative
programs to demonstrate wave, tidal and river-instream energy conversion

The University of California recently announced that it is signing a
$500M deal with the oil company BP, to establish a research center on
bioenergy, in collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
and University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. The main focus of this
research center would be to develop biofuels, a technology that is
presented as holding great promise for reducing our emissions of
greenhouse gases. Yet, many scientists believe that biofuels are far
