Organization
Rising Sun Energy Center (RSEC), a 501 (c)(3) corporation, provides comprehensive energy-efficiency services and education for Bay Area residents through our California Youth Energy Services program. We provide our services through innovative community service programs integrating youth training and employment, on-site residential energy efficiency visits, and other local programs and services. Since 2000, RSEC has served over 8,000 homes, saving residents over $3,000,000 annually in utility costs and providing training and programs for over 300 youth ages 15-22 years old.

Job Summary:
Position: An Area Director will oversee four to five CYES Summer program satellite offices and manage 8-10 Site Manager employees. CYES programs will be held in a variety of Bay Area cities, including Alameda, Contra Costa, and Marin Counties.
We are looking for individuals with extensive experience managing employees, programs, and knowledge working with youth ages 15-24 years of age from diverse backgrounds. The Area Director position will run approximately thirteen weeks from early- May to end-August; the duration of the summer program. This is a Full-Time Temporary- seasonal EXEMPT position. The salary ranges between $9,000 - $11,000 based on thirteen weeks of work, and will be paid on a bi-weekly basis. Benefits are not included. This is a short-term temporary position, with possibility of renewable. This position begins on May 19, 2008 and ends on August 15, 2008. Due to the nature of our program we are unable to provide vacation through the duration of the program.

Responsibilities:
The Area Director is responsible for recruiting clients to schedule appointments in their allocated region, overseeing the proper administration and management of all aspects of the satellite offices within their jurisdiction, assist with the training and development of youth Energy Specialists in their region, and ensure that all program deliverables are met in their region. Each region will consist of 4 site offices.

Staff Management and Youth Development:

• Responsible for managing and supervising 8-10 Co-Site Managers, facilitating group meetings, and conflict mediation.
• Responsible for the overall performance of all sites in regions; including staff performance, meeting installation goals, and successful outreach methods.
• Tracking Site Manager’s progress and coordinating personnel evaluations and individual site program evaluations.
• Implementing and leading week long intensive youth training for CYES Energy Specialists and assisting Site Managers with mini-youth training sessions throughout program duration.
• Performing ride-alongs with youth to ensure quality performance and continue on the job training and development of youth Energy Specialists.

Outreach and Marketing:

• Soliciting potential clients, making phone calls, meeting with community members and organizing, soliciting local media, and attending community events to generate client leads.
• Responsible for securing and scheduling appointments before youth begin direct services implementation portion of the program and throughout implementation.

Program Management:

• Responsible for ensuring proper and accurate reporting of all data collected out in the field. Perform quality control audits on all data collected and reported in the field by youth Energy Specialists and Site Managers.
• Properly track and report installation numbers for region. Create and maintain program reports and numbers to submit on a weekly basis, and maintain marketing and outreach tracking and reporting systems.

Requirements:
• Demonstrated ability to lead employment/development programs with teenage youth.
• Ability to retain and motivates a diverse staff; train, support, and supervise staff, assigns work effectively, and addresses performance problems as they arise.
• Strong project management skills: ability to multi-task, work under pressure, solve problems, delegate tasks.
• Your own car with valid driver’s license and insurance and ability to travel 20% -30% of time within Alameda, Contra Costa, and/or Marin Counties.
• Demonstrated interest in environmental education, activism, or community service.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a hectic environment.
• Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, I.E., fast typing. Ability to quickly learn, use, and teach a new database software system.
• Ability to lead teams and work as a team player.
• Preferred but not required: CPR and First Aid certified.
• Preferred by not required: bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, or Tagalog
