Economic Modeler for Wattbot

Name of job:
Economic Modeler for Wattbot
Description:
Wattbot is an angel-funded SF-based startup that is building a web service to help residential and small business consumers select the most appropriate Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) technologies, with relevant finance options, tailored to their individual needs. In order to achieve this goal, it gathers in-depth data about the end user both directly and indirectly via their property address. This extensive data on site, structure, financials, goals, etc. is added to an extensive database of products, services, incentives, providers, weather, geography, etc. and is fed into a recommendation engine that generates a set of RE and EE options ranked by ROI, tailored to a particular consumer/property. We are looking for microeconomic and/or financial modelers to help us build this recommendation engine. They should have a strong base of analytical skills, experience in modeling RE and EE technologies on a ROI basis, a good sense of the trade-offs between accuracy and robustness, as well the ability to define and evaluate criteria for evaluating the model relative to ground truth. The model will be built in a step-wise fashion, starting with a subset of RE and EE technologies and restricted to specific geo areas (e.g. initially Bay Area only), growing to encompass all of North America and an increasingly larger set of RE and EE options. Programming skills are desirable, but not required. Start date: ASAP. Depending on the candidate's specific situation, the position is available as an internship, a consulting contract, full or part time, short or long term, etc. Contact Kurt Brown at kurt@wattbot.com
