Student Competitions
Students are the creative engine underlying much of the success of UC Berkeley at addressing environmental challenges.
BIE supports the Bears Breaking Boundaries Contests, sponsored by Big Ideas @ Berkeley, to provide seed money to students to create their own real world environmental research and development projects.
Is your work application oriented? Do you know students in other departments or research groups that you would like to meet with to discuss your work? Would you benefit from having a student-only discussion about your research area? Consider applying for funds to start an Idea Lab, a multidisciplinary collaboration between graduate students on campus working on developing a common application, product, or service.
Energy and Environmental Innovation Contest
Are you developing new energy technology? Have you created an environmental policy that will help clean up global emissions? Do you have an innovative model for an energy business or non-profit organization? Perhaps you have an idea that will help alleviate hunger and poverty through renewable decentralized sources of energy. We want to help you make it happen.
