Director of Project Development for SunEdison

Responsible for managing the identification, acquisition and permitting
of SunEdison's pipeline of utility-scale solar energy projects in Spain.
As a leader of SunEdison's Spanish operations, this person will report
to the Regional Director of Project Development for Europe, and work
closely with the Director of International Business Development and
other members of the SunEdison leadership team to craft the long-term
market strategy. He/she must possess the vision and creativity
necessary to effectively develop and execute short and long range plans
for a company that will scale rapidly over the next five to ten years.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Manage any number of development activities to include all
stages of the project development process, including:
* Identifying and securing suitable project locations,
* cost and feasibility analysis, pricing analysis,
contract and concession agreement negotiations, and evaluating bid specs
* negotiating land leases and easements, managing
landowner relationships
* identifying, managing and securing interconnection
agreements
* securing permits required by local, provincial and
national jurisdictions, and managing community relations
* assisting with tax, financing, and regulatory related
research and negotiations
* provide regular reporting such as project budgets and
development timelines
* Have a thorough understanding of the renewable energy market and
its discontinuities in order to identify unique project development
opportunities. This will include identifying and supporting project M&A
activity and management of JV relationships.
* Provide decisive and mature guidance to project evaluation and
capture teams, ensuring that projects under consideration fit the
corporate strategy and are evaluated and pursued at the proper pace.
* Work closely as part of the senior leadership team of the
company to develop long and short term strategic plans required to
properly assess opportunities.
* Gather market intelligence; prioritizing projects and
opportunities; constantly enhance and expand relationships with
appropriate government, regulatory and legislative officials to further
the intelligence-gathering and project-approval process and ensure that
all team members are appropriately apprised of activities, the
competitive environment, and experiences gained.
* Help in the development and overall implementation of policies
and procedures for the company.
Qualifications:
* 1-5 years direct experience as a project developer in a related
field, such as, wind energy, coal, gas power projects, or real-estate
development. Preferably in Spain.
* Excellent analytical skills to be able decompose problems
clearly and identify viable solutions taking schedule, cost and degree
of risk into consideration. Must be proficient with Excel and
understand how to utilize a project finance model.
* Technical expertise and/or demonstrated understanding of solar
engineering and construction issues to be able to generally assess the
technical viability of projects and foresee potential problems with
permitting or construction.
* Solid understanding of the permitting and regulatory rules and
environment and the ability to manage development risk appropriately.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent
diplomacy skills in order to communicate with and influence people at
all levels - strong conflict negotiation skills a must.
* Extremely organized work habits with a record of successful
delivery of complex projects as an individual and a team leader and have
an ability to work on several projects in parallel. Familiarity with
formal project management methodologies and ability to read and
interpret architectural and engineering drawings a plus.
* Demonstrated background as a self-starter and independent
worker. Does not need the security/support of a large organization to
take action; has demonstrated success in a start-up entrepreneurial
environment; enjoys seeing the results of his/her efforts and can accept
the visibility of their assumed responsibilities.
* Relevant undergraduate degree (engineering, business, finance);
MBA a strong plus.
* Fluent in Spanish and English. Proficiency in Portuguese a
plus.
Physical Demands:
Frequent travel (50-75%) to and from projects is anticipated as a
regular requirement for conducting business. Ability to communicate
orally with customers, management, and other co-workers, both
individually and in front of a group is important. Regular use of the
telephone and e-mail for communication is expected.
Work Environment:
Candidates are expected to travel regularly to the SunEdison office in
Barcelona. However, it may be possible to be located in another city in
Spain. The job is performed both indoors in a traditional office
setting and outdoors traveling to and from project sites, permitting
departments and/or customer and partner offices. There will also be
regular travel to coordinate activities with SunEdison International
management.

Job Summary:

We are looking for individuals with extensive experience working with youth ages 15-24 years of age from diverse ages and backgrounds. The Site Manager positions will run approximately eight and a half weeks from early- June to mid-August the duration of the summer program. This is a full-time Temporary- seasonal EXEMPT position. The salary ranges between $5,000 - $6,000 based on eight and a half weeks of work, and will be paid on a bi-weekly basis. Benefits are not included. This is a short-term temporary position, with possibility of renewable. This position begins on June 16, 2008 and ends on August 15, 2008. Due to the nature of our program we are unable to provide vacation through the duration of the program.

Responsibilities:
The Site Manager is responsible for the overall administration of all aspects of the CYES program at a satellite office site, the management and supervision of all youth at their site, and ensuring that all program deliverables are met.
Youth Energy Specialists Supervision, Training, and Management:
• Responsible for training 10-12 youth Energy Specialists, facilitating group meetings, delegating and managing youth daily tasks and appointments, and conflict mediation.
• Tracking student hours and coordinating youth staff evaluations and individual site program evaluations.
• Entering data collected in the field by youth Energy Specialists into the scheduler or regulating and monitoring data entered by youth.
• Identifying and screening potential clients and scheduling appointments for youth Energy Specialists.

Submitted by Anonymous on April 10, 2008 - 3:44pm.An exciting and challenging opportunity exists for a Research Associate, at either the Principal or Staff level, to work as a member of the China Energy Group within the Environmental Energy Technologies Division at Berkeley Labs.
As a Research Associate, you will:
1)Perform research and analyses in the areas of industrial sector energy use, energy efficiency, and related greenhouse gas emissions for a variety of manufacturing industries.
2)Contribute to and or author conference papers, laboratory reports and refereed journal articles on industrial energy use and energy efficiency topics. In particular, author user-friendly energy efficiency improvement guidebooks for individual manufacturing industries.
3)Design databases and engineering-based spreadsheet tools for analyzing energy use, energy efficiency benchmarks, and greenhouse gas emissions in key manufacturing industries and other analytical needs.
4)Develop and/or assist in developing presentations for conferences, meetings and workshops, and give presentations at conferences, meetings and workshops.
5)Provide information and consultation in response to research and information requests from outside the China Energy Group, Program, and Laboratory.
6)Assist group leader, group members, and other members of the Energy Analysis Department at large with data compilation and analysis problems.
Key Success Factors Are:
1)Demonstrated understanding of industrial energy uses and demand, as well as technical analyses. Expertise in industrial energy-efficiency measures and technologies.
2)Familiarity with underlying factors affecting energy use in various manufacturing industries, including a strong understanding of the physical science, engineering, and manufacturing considerations that affect energy use.. Knowledge of economic and management sciences, as they affect energy efficiency choices in manufacturing industries. Understanding of life-cycle assessment approaches to energy systems analysis, and familiarity with life-cycle inventory and impact characterization data sources and techniques. Experience with quantitative data analysis.
3)Proven communication skills as lead or co-author of technical papers, and reports. Proficiency developing presentations, presenting research results and representing the group at meetings, workshops, and conferences. Demonstrated collaboration skills to respond to short-term client needs, work with members of project teams, and collaborate with industry and international experts. Proven ability to work with more than one principal investigator and with some or all members of project team, including leading others in projects of moderate complexity.
4)Advanced mastery of Excel, proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Access. Proven technical writing and editing skills and ability to prepare materials and write sections of reports. Familiarity with web-based research.
5)Desired traits are Masters Degree in engineering or physical sciences and three to six years experience in independent design, processing and analysis of data. Work experience in manufacturing industries with responsibilities for energy use. Ability to speak and/or read Mandarin.

This is a full-time career position and is represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes. Classification will be at the Principal Research Associate or Staff Research Associate level depending upon the applicant's level of skills, knowledge, and relevant experience.
