Description:
The Big Ideas @ Berkeley initiative and the Berkeley student government (ASUC) are teaming up with a variety of research centers and institutes on the campus to organize a series of parallel white paper competitions that will encourage student teams to propose the next generation of research, education, and service activities on the UC Berkeley campus. Competitions include Green Cities and Solar Fuels.

We hope you will join us in this third annual UC/CSU competition which will recognize outstanding campus sustainability and energy efficiency efforts. The winners will be recognized at an awards dinner held at the Annual UC/CSU Sustainability conference June 24th through 27th.

Description:
This seminar will focus on one or several related issues in society that have a significant bearing on chemistry. Particular topics will differ from course section to course section and from year to year. Representative examples: atmospheric ozone, nuclear waste, solar energy, water, agrichemicals. Students will search information sources, invite expert specialists to speak, prepare oral and written reports.
