Description:
Growing demand for transportation energy around the world, along with increasing concentration of oil reserves and production in a small number of countries with problematic governance, is clearly a global problem. In addition, transportation energy contributes greatly to climate change, habitat destruction, and other environmental challenges. Scientific and technical progress in the production and distribution of new transportation fuels and associated vehicle technologies introduces more options, placing an even greater emphasis on understanding how to choose among them. The focus of the proposed Working Group will be to develop research proposals to improve our understanding of how new transportation fuels can be deployed to obtain economic, strategic, and environmental benefits while minimizing risk.
